Please Read Carefully:
- Students will not be registered for the 6-Credits of Internship Courses until they have a signed internship agreement. An internship must last a minimum of 30 weeks. Students logging hours are required to attend virtual monthly internship seminars for as long as they are logging hours even after the initial registration semester. Non-Alfred Alumni are required to go to Alfred University’s campus for a 4-day seminar July 26-29th, 2026.
- A minimum of 60 graduate credits is required for Mental Health Licensure in New York State. Students may be required to take more than the 18-credits above based on their previous graduate coursework. All transcripts will be reviewed during the admissions process.
- A minimum of 6 graduate credits is required each semester to be eligible for financial aid.
- Alfred University does not accept credit transfers for Coun 603 or Coun 615. Students may receive credit transfers for Coun 628 and/or Coun 619 if these courses are taken within the past 10 years, a grade of B or better was received and the course content matches that of the required courses. Students who choose to accept credit transfers will not be eligible for Financial Aid unless they secure an acceptable internship placement during that semester and are registered for an additional 6 graduate credits.
- Students that graduated from Alfred University’s School Counseling program after June 2022 will not take Coun 619 because that course was part of the Initial Master’s degree. They will not be eligible for financial aid in the second semester unless they secure an acceptable internship placement during that semester and are registered for an additional 6 graduate credits.
* If you are a CITE / Alfred Master’s in School Counseling grad, you are eligible for the expedited alumni application process. Please see this page for information.
